Requirements for Studying in UK
These vary between study programs and levels. For each course, Indian students will need to meet a minimum English language requirement. Along with that a minimum academic record of 65% and above for humanities stream in class XII, and 70 – 80% and above for Science/Commerce stream in class XII will also be required.
Foundations and Diploma programs are available for students who have secured below 60%. The student should have completed 18 years of age before joining a degree program.
Documents required by UG aspirants for UK Student Visa
There are three types of student visas to the US:

UK Study Visa
You should have the following documents before applying:
UK Student Visa Requirements: Applying for a student visa requires you to carry a lot more documents in comparison to a tourist visa, by comparison. Aspirants need the mandatory documents along with supporting documents of financial and academic records. Make sure you refer to the UK Student Visa checklist before going to the consulate for the visa interview.

- A completed student visa application form
- A letter of acceptance on the course – Your approved education provider will give you an acceptance letter (CAS) and a visa letter which are official and unconditional offers of a place on a course of study. The visa letter must be issued no more than six months before you apply. The applications where the visa letters are older than six months will be refused.
- Having a visa letter does not guarantee the application will be successful. The applicant must meet all the requirements of the category and any other requirements of the immigration rules.
- Proof of funds – The money you need to show covers your course fees for your first year of study and living costs for up to a maximum of nine months. The amount you will need depends on whether you are applying as a child or adult and also whether you will be studying in or out of London. You must show that you have held the money for at least 28 days. The end of that 28 day period must not be more than one month before the date of your application.
You must show the following amount of money to meet basic living costs (not including fees) for a period of up to nine months i.e. £12,006 for nine months if you are living in London and £9,207 for nine months if you are living outside London.

- Pay slips
- Original mark sheets/provisional certificates
- Score sheet of exams like TOEFL, GMAT, IELTS, etc.

Work While Studying in UK
Recently UK relaxed post-study work visa (graduate route visa) rules for international students. This will allow international as well as Indian students to stay in the UK for work after finishing their studies. However, there are certain rules regarding part-time work in the UK for international students who went on a student visa. In case any international student doesn’t comply with the rules laid down by the UKBA, they risk facing deportation. Candidates can work on-campus or off-campus whatever opportunities they get. Following are the restrictions on working part-time while on UK student visa (Tier 4):
Maximum of 20 hours per week of paid/unpaid work for those studying at degree level or more
Maximum of 10 hours per week of paid/unpaid work during course term for language center students
The Student visa must be valid and issued for a full-time course
Full-time work is allowed during vacations
Students pursuing part-time courses are not allowed to work in the UK by authorities
You can’t work full time until you have received a work permit (Tier 2)
Self-employment is not permitted, like any freelance or consultancy work
UK Post-Study Work Visa for Graduates
The UK post-study work visa allows international students to stay back in the UK to search for work for a period of 2 years after completing their graduate studies.
During the first year after graduation, PSW visa holders can work in any job until they find work to move towards a general work visa.
This rule of staying in the UK after graduation will again makes the UK a topmost choice for international students. International students who were looking for other countries in Europe will again seek to study in the UK. Any international student having a Tier-4 visa and is enrolled in a recognized UK higher education from September 2020 is eligible for stay back period after their graduation.
The new post-study work visa rules allow international students to work in the UK after graduation. This rule will be applicable to a bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. graduates.
The post-study work visa allows graduates to work to stay up to two years and look for work. During this period, students are allowed to do any work other than their area of study.
Once the PSW visa expires, those who are looking to stay longer in the UK need to apply to a skilled work visa or general work visa (Tier 2 visa). However, in order to get a Tier 2 visa, the general work visa, the candidate must be getting at least £30,000 per year. For some jobs, this can be higher or lower.
